Nurse Specialist – Paediatric/NICU/PICU Job, Birmingham, Birmingham & West Midlands


Location: Birmingham - Birmingham & West Midlands
Rate: £ 18.30 to £ 29.28 - per hour Day and Sunday. Nights/Sat 23.79
Job Status: Temporary

Nurse Specialist – Paediatric/NICU/PICU

You will need a minimum of 2 years post registration experience in paediatrics and will be able to evidence current practice within the paediatric speciality relevant to assignment in the last 6 months.

You will need to be registered on the appropriate part of the NMC Register and have the relevant post registration qualification as required for the assignment.

RN (Child)RN Registered Nurse OR RN (Adult) – RN1 or 2 Registered Nurse with ENB 415 or 405 Course or equivalent post registration diploma

You ideally should hold Advanced Life Support and a teaching and assessing qualification.

Skills and abilities:

- You will need to be able to plan, implement and evaluate specialist nursing care programmes
- You must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to relate within the interdisciplinary team and across other disciplines
- Strong assessing and interpreting skills in order to access specialist acute and other patient conditions and taking appropriate action
- Able to advise patients, relatives
- Able to take charge of a team or manage a ward/department in the absence of the ward manager
- High effective communication skills (written, non-verbal and verbal)
- Competent and effective clinical nursing skills including: IV Cannulation, IV Additives, Administration of IV medicines.
- Safe use of defusion devices
- Competent in paediatric life support

As an agency worker you must be trained and assessed by the Authority where the assignment is taking place before being authorised to carry out these tasks at that authority.
