Rate: £ 36.87 to £ 43.78 - per hour Day and Sunday. Nights/Sat 40.41
Job Status: Temporary
Theatre Practitioner - Band 7 or G Grade Equiv.
Must have a minimum of 4 years post registration experience in Theatres - at least two years must be current experience in the field of the assignment. Current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice.
Training, Qualifications and knowledge:
- Registered on the appropriate part of the NMC / HPC register for the assignment
- RN (Adult) / RN1/ RN2 OR RN (Child)/RN8
OR
- City and Guilds 752 or NVQ Level 3 in Operating Department Practice or equivalent Diploma in Higher Education in Operating Department Practice
- Professional knowledge acquired through relevant post registration / qualification course in achieved through an Institute of Higher Education (Level 3) as required for the assignment - supplemented by specialist clinical managerial training
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- ENB 998 or equivalent Teaching & Assessing qualification
Summary of role
• Lead specialist in a defined area of Theatre work e.g. Clinical Nurse Specialist, Senior Specialist Nurse OR Anaesthesia Practitioner, Surgical Care Practitioner
• Provides skilled, professional assessment of health needs and relevant clinical care
• Assesses patients, plans and implements care
• Provides specialist education and training to other staff and students
• Undertakes research, lead clinical audits within own specialist area
• Provides advice and maintains associated records
• Provides clinical leadership to the theatre team
• May undertake pre and post –operative assessment of patients or apply skills in care of patients in ward situations as well as theatres
- Competent and effective clinical nursing skills including:
• IV cannulation, IV additives and administration of IV medicines (to have received appropriate training and assessment at the Authority where the assignment is taking place before being authorised to carry out these tasks at that Authority)
• Able to demonstrate safe use of patient equipment including infusion devices
- Ensure all patients and relatives are treated with respect and dignity at all times
